Old Thyme Remedies, in Pensacola, is a new shop offering bulk herbs, teas, therapeutic essential oils and a variety of supplements. It features a sitting area where customers can enjoy a cup of herbal tea and peruse the shop’s research library.

Shop owners Beth Workman and Theresa Ellis lead educational workshops at the shop. Workman says, “I use bulk herbs at home, and wanted people to see that there are economical ways of being healthy. We don’t sell prepared remedies; we host hands-on workshops to teach people to make things themselves.” The first workshop, scheduled for 6 p.m., November 14, shows how to make an all-purpose cleaner and an elderberry cough syrup using herbs.
