The medical massage and kinesiology clinic of The REACH Institute of NW Florida, in Destin, has received certifications of their staff of compassionate touch caregivers in oncology massage. Ann Rector, the founder of The REACH Institute, recently attended a special oncology massage training program and was so moved by the experience that she arranged for the trainer to come to Northwest Florida to certify her entire staff.

Compassionate touch and oncology massage is a special form of massage that is specifically tailored for a person that is living with cancer or has a history of cancer. This comfort-oriented involves adjustments such as type of pressure, length of session, positioning and avoidance of affected areas in the body. In addition, side effects from medications and treatments are taken into account, so that a safe and beneficial massage can be given.
