Workshop to Create a Better Community

A workshop, Creating a Better Place to Live: Organizing for Environmental and Community Change, will be presented from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., October 20, at The Wright Place, in Pensacola. Organized by Earth Ethics, Inc., and Sustainable Town Concepts, the event will provide an inspiring and empowering experience that teaches members of the community how to organize for positive change in their neighborhood or community. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

Presenters are local community leaders that have led successful campaigns for walkable communities, urban agriculture, racial harmony and neighborhood revitalization. Many local residents have great ideas for ways to improve our community, but don’t know how to translate those ideas into community-wide action. Attendees learn the skills they need to lead initiatives on a wide range of efforts to create a better community. Some of the topics covered include: how to inspire your community to action, effective public speaking, how to organize a campaign for change, communicating with elected officials and more.

Location: 6 E. Wright St. Cost is $10/$15 after Oct.5. For more information, call 850-549-7472 or visit EarthEthics.us.
