Learn to Become a Yoga Teacher

For the third consecutive year, Nancy LaNasa, owner of the Abhaya Yoga Center, is offering a 200-hour yoga teacher training course. Students will participate in intensive training for one weekend a month from September through May 2014.

The program allows for immersion in asana, alignment, yogic philosophy, Sanskrit and meditation. Daily asana practice is a requirement, as is extensive required reading. Each participant will mentor with an Abhaya senior teacher, allowing for a deeper relationship to all aspects of the teacher training, asana and meditation practice, generating a well-rounded, in-depth experience.

Guest teachers include Catherine L. McCarthy, of New Orleans (NolaYoga.com), Alison West, of New York City (YogaUnion.com), and Prudence F. Bruns, Ph.D. (PrudenceFBruns.com). The program is led by LaNasa and Abhaya Yoga Center senior teachers Rebecca Sathre and Tammy Virchow-Urbansky.

LaNasa is one of the first certified Jivamukti Yoga School teachers, receiving certification in 1995. She is also a 1990 graduate of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, in Kerala, India. Sathre graduated from the Sivananda Yoga Ashram Retreat, in Paradise Island, Bahamas, in 2001. She is also a graduate of the Vedic Conservatory of Thai Yoga Bodywork. Virchow-Urbansky graduated in 2006 from the Dragonfly Yoga Teacher Training, in Fort Walton Beach.
