Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire in Pensacola

Since 2001, the Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire has celebrated Tristan de Luna’s 1559 discovery. The 2014 edition, to be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 1 and 2, at the Pensacola Fairgrounds, includes jousting, exotic birds, period dancing, acrobatic performances and other entertainments with a historical flair.
Performers in Renaissance dress participate in royal parades and patrons are encouraged to do the same. Strolling re-enactors relate a bit of knowledge about the character they portray or the historical relevance of their costume or character. Others share stories, fairytales and myths. See the Faire website for details about how to become a competitor.
The Fairgrounds is also the site the first of the 2014 Pirate Olympic Games. Representatives from pirate crews and guilds will compete for glory, the Pirate Olympic medals and bragging rights.

Admission: $10/ adults and teens, $5/children 5-12; free/under 5. Location: 6655 Mobile Hwy. For more information, visit GCRF.us.
