Natural Awakenings Northwest Florida

Destin Seafood Festival

The 36th annual Destin Seafood Festival will be held from 4 to 10 p.m., October 3, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., October 4 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., October 5, along Destin Harbor and the Harbor Boardwalk right on the water, with the action of the Destin Fishing Rodeo right in the heart of the festival. More than 60,000 locals and visitors are expected to enjoy the arts, crafts, music, food, entertainment, fireworks and excitement.

As an example of all the great fun to be had at the festival, on Sunday, the Mingo Toss contest, for kids up to 11 years old, is an old-fashioned fish throwing contest with Mingo snappers. This will be followed by a treasure hunt down the Harbor for the kids, lasting 35 minutes with four stops total along the way. They will make stops at the Captain Nemo booth on the dock, the petting zoo and Captain Davie’s Pirate Village.

Admission is free. For more information, call 850-428-7783 orvisit DestinSeafoodFestival.org.
