Natural Awakenings Northwest Florida

Integrative Medicine Course at Center for Lifelong Learning

Wellness Rocks! Integrative Medicine classes will be held from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays, from January 22 to February 26, at the University of West Florida Fort Walton Beach auditorium. Registration begins from 9 to 11 a.m., January 9, for current students and 1 to 2 p.m. for new students. Students can register any time after January 14 by contacting the office.

Facilitated by Daralyn Chase, publisher of Natural Awakenings magazine in Northwest Florida, on behalf of the Center for Lifelong Learning, each class is taught by members of our healthy living community of experts and practitioners.

Students will learn cutting-edge information about integrative medicine, a personalized, systems-oriented model that empowers patients and practitioners to achieve the highest expression of health by working in collaboration to address the underlying causes of disease.

This year’s program will begin with a viewing of the documentary, Doctored. Students will learn how the Eastern medical approach considers health as a balanced state, versus disease, from Dr. Sheryl Roe, RN AP. Marie Boularand, a certified naturopath and Biodecoding practitioner, introduces the emotional connection to cancer.

Dr. Nitin Bawa will cover integrative medicine for weight loss, beauty and anti-aging. They  will also learn how ozonotherapy, prolotherapy and prologel ultrasound are used to help patients recover from injuries when Dr. Sheila Mohammed teaches about regenerative pain medicine. Janet Hardy will present the muscle-relaxing properties and pain relief found through the therapy of myofascial release. Students will even enjoy a field trip to the area’s only farm to table restaurant, as Amy Likins, a holistic nutritionist, teaches how to eat healthy and love it.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions after the presentation and meet with these local experts for additional workshops, seminars and private consultations at a later date.
