Natural Awakenings Northwest Florida

Cover Artist, Margaret Biggs

Pensacola native Margaret Biggs pays homage to the beauty found in nature and the spirituality a relationship with it ensures through her uniquely rendered oil paintings. She embarks upon each piece as a conquest to capture that profound peace and wisdom and bring it into the hearts of all those that view her work. For her cover painting, Dawn’s Light, Biggs chose the Pensacola Lighthouse, built in 1859 in this historic city. The lighthouse and the sun rising are both symbols of hope for our incredibly beautiful natural world and the love that resides in everyone’s soul.

Biggs remarks, “Nature is my refuge. I cherish it, and hope to guide people towards sensing the tranquility and connectedness that is inherent everywhere.” Along with magnificent portrayals of the environment, she presents these forms as symbols of deeper meaning through her poetry, which reflects upon themes of love, loss, self-discovery, transformation and peace.

Displaying regularly in art festivals throughout the Southeast, Biggs now sells nationwide. She is scheduled to show at Artsquest, in Destin, on May 8, 9 and 10, and Art in the Park, in Seville Square, in Pensacola, on May 16 and 17. Her next solo show, Visions; Through Paintings and Poetry, will be on display at the Pensacola Museum of Art from September 26 through November 14.

Visitors may arrange a studio visit by emailing Margaret@MargaretBiggs.com. A collection of her paintings and poetry can be found in her book Visions II; Through Paintings and Poetry, available at Amazon.com and MargaretBiggs.com.
