A Birth and Wellness Center is opening in the Pensacola area in 2016. The nonprofit organization has the goal of providing a location for natural wellness professionals such as chiropractors and massage therapists, as well as an American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) accredited birth center as early as the beginning of 2016.

Later this year, one of the only two out-of-hospital birth options for Pensacola women will no longer be available. Women in this area are increasingly pursuing natural and low-intervention births, and members of the committee believe that the birth center will fill the void. Ashley Dawn, LMT, a member of the nomination committee, states, “Informing and educating women is going to be a huge part of the center’s mission.” 

The vision of the center is to provide a centralized location for families seeking wellness through a more natural approach, with the end goal of providing women with an out-of-hospital birth option.
