Hippies Dancing Just Like Back in the Day

The annual Hippie Festival Summer Solstice Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., June 20, at the Intuitive Spiritual Center, in Fort Walton Beach. On this day of music, storytelling, poetry, singing and mingling, participants are encouraged to wear their best hippie threads and dreads and bring stories, poem, pictures, songs, guitars, drums, tambourines and a white T-shirt to tie-dye; or make a $10 love offering and the center will supply one.

The tie-dye workshop begins at 2 p.m., followed by a groovy threads contest at 4 p.m. Shintaedo dance, hula-hoop challenges, emotional release sessions, psychic readings and the John of God Light Bed are all highlights of the say’s festivities.

Sponsored by Stone Soup Intuitive Spiritual Center, founders Jul’s Constantine and Jan Myers, were delighted with the participation and excitement from last years event.  Myers says, “Folks have been asking about the next event all year, and we are thrilled to see many like-minded people come together to celebrate the peace, love and nostalgia of the hippie era.”

No drugs or alcohol are allowed, and the festival is actively seeking additional vendors to participate in this classic event. Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Admission is by love offering, cost varies for vendor services. Location: Stone Soup ISC, 700 NW Pkwy., Unit D. Potential vendors and guests may call 850-533-6565 or visit IntuitiveSpiritualCenter.org.
