Natural Awakenings Northwest Florida

Exploring Global Communiteis - October 2015

It's not every day that you get to meet a team of physicists from Nigeria at 5 a.m. on a layover in the Las Vegas airport, and then decide to collaborate on bringing an International Green Energy and Power Conference to the U.S. But we Natural Awakenings publishers get around—you know, saving the world and all.  Almost a year ago, that's exactly what happened.

My own focus on green living has been primarily based on what an individual could do to make a difference, but when Linda Sechrist, our national senior writer, began to explore the global communities of individuals coming together to make a more impactful difference, as revealed in this month’s feature article, “Awakening the Global Heart,” I also realized that being part of the innovation to create of a more secure and affordable global energy system in regard to efficiency, pollution and sustainability is concomitant to the fate of the Earth.

“I believe this first-ever crossover for Natural Awakenings, from an audience interested in learning about cutting-edge information on healthy lifestyles to an international one highly focused on the latest global technology and developments in green energy and power, is an opportunity to build a bridge between what have been compartmentalized aspects of one whole system,” says Sechrist. “Whole system health includes everything—medicine, education, government, justice, the arts, economics, science, spiritually and the environment.

Everything is undeniably interconnected. As Barbara Marx Hubbard, a conscious visionary who founded the Foundation for Evolutionary Consciousness points out, “If we want to take a leap in consciousness to save our planet, we must find new ways to connect the separate parts to make a new whole.” This crossover feels like it’s part of that necessary leap. Sechrist also organized and hosted the first online summit on metabolic syndrome, a global health crisis largely unrecognized by the general public.

I just want our readers to know that although or focus is right here on the Emerald Coast, our parent organization has an independent, worldwide journalistic reach that is covering important developments you won’t see in other publications. So not only do you get the best of everything, it’s totally free. That’s our mission—to illuminate the world, one candle at a time.

Peace and sustainable global health for all,
