Felicia McQuaid, a local business owner, author, yoga teacher and motivational speaker, will expand her reach to Nashville on August 20 when she teaches a daylong program, The Yoga of Action: Change Yourself, Change the World, at the Scarritt-Bennett Center.
McQuaid describes the yoga of action as the path of the modern-day spiritual warrior. “Spiritual warriors are individuals who understand and want to further develop themselves as a path to authentic and long-term changes on this planet,” she says. “This is an important time, for what we do now shapes the future for generations to come. Humanity, the planet, our families and our communities are calling out for change. This change elicia McQuaidis empowered through the four principles of the spiritual warrior: faith, courage, compassion and equanimity.”
The program runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and consists of two sessions, each of which includes a lecture, yoga practice and guided meditations. “The morning session is designed to awaken the heart of the warrior with the principles of faith and courage,” McQuaid says. “The yoga practice will break down and break through the blocks of the heart. The afternoon session is designed to assist individuals to a more soulful understanding of who they truly are. Individuals will be guided to dive deep into the inner world with a quieter, reflective yoga practice rich with breath work and illuminating meditations.”
The cost of the full-day event is $99, with hotel accommodations starting at $55. “Nashville is a great place to explore and take time away,” McQuaid says.
