Weekend Music Festival Raises Awareness of Cow Slaughter

Save The Cow Kirtan Mela, a three-night, two-day music festival for animal rights, will take place September 30 to October 2 at ISKCON New Talavan organic farm community in Carriere, Mississippi. Admission, food and yoga are free at this event, which is intended to bring awareness to cow slaughter.

Visitors are invited to come that Friday evening to set up camp and then dance all night as special guest DJs spin mantra-based electronica and hip hop. The festival includes free vegetarian and vegan breakfast and dinner.

The 1,20-acre New Talavan Farm, located at 31492 Anner Road in Carriere, is home to about 60 cows that were saved from slaughter. This organic farming community has the largest collection of saved cows and one of the biggest Adopt-a-Cow programs in the area.
