Natural Awakenings Northwest Florida

Open House at Expanded Pilates Core Training Studio

Pilates Core Training Studio will celebrate its move to a new 3,000-square-foot studio at 1308 Dunmire Street in Pensacola with an open house from 5 to 7 p.m., September 23.

Owner Barbara Bruni says the increased space, a few doors down from the old one, allows her to offer three different healing modalities—Pilates Core Training, Gyrotronics, and Myofascial Release and Structural Integration—plus Pilates instructor training, all under one roof. “We have a number of exciting workshops, seminars and teacher training classes already planned,” she says. “The first one is Relief Through Rolling, scheduled for September 17 and 18.”

Foam rolling is quickly becoming one of the most popular self-care tools on the market for managing pain, Bruni says. Kevin Lucas, owner of Structural Innovations, created the Relief Through Rolling system as a fun, simple, comfortable way to relieve both acute and chronic pain. The Relief Through Rolling workshop at Pilates Core Training Studio is open to therapists and instructors as well as the general public.

Students in Bruni’s Pilates instructor training program learn the foundations of movement and then apply them to the traditional Pilates exercises. “Students learn how to address the therapeutic needs of fitness enthusiasts as well as athletes,” she says. “They will be able to teach group classes as well as personal training clients.” The studio is on the Pilates Method Alliance's Registry of Schools. Pilates Mat Teacher Training begins in October; Comprehensive (all equipment and apparatus) begins in January.
