Natural Awakenings Northwest Florida

An Evening with Jason Alexander at Mattie Kelly Arts Center

Jason Alexander

The 20th anniversary of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center and the 30th anniversary season of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra (NFSO) will be celebrated with a joint event on January 21, An Evening with Jason Alexander, featuring the TV, film and Broadway star.

Long before becoming world renowned as the iconic George Costanza on Seinfeld, Alexander was a Tony Award-winning Broadway song and dance man. At the Mattie Kelly Arts Center, he will recount his journey to and on the Broadway stage. Backed by theatrical music from the NFSO, the comedic show will feature audience interaction.

Though he’s best known for his award-winning, nine-year stint on Seinfeld, Alexander has achieved international recognition for his extraordinarily diverse career. Besides performing on stage, screen and television, he has worked extensively as a writer, composer, director, producer and acting teacher. He is also an award-winning magician, a notorious poker player and a respected advocate for social and political issues.

The January 21 show will include “a tasty anniversary tribute” for all attendees during intermission. Presenting sponsors can also arrange for a separate meet and greet with Alexander. For information on sponsorships, contact Mattie Kelly Arts Center Director Jeanette Shires at 850-729-6004.

In January 1997, the NFSO was the first group to perform in the arts center’s new Mainstage Theater, opening the $30 million arts complex with an overflow-capacity concert. As the NFSO’s 30th anniversary season coincides with the arts center’s 20th anniversary, this event will celebrate both milestones.

Tickets cost $65 each and are sold exclusively through the nonprofit Mattie Kelly Arts Center Box Office. Contact the box office at 850-729-6000 or toll-free at 888-838-ARTS (2787).
