Destin’s Bayou, Bay & Beach Races Benefit Watershed

Destin’s seventh annual Bayou, Bay & Beach 5K run/walk, 10K and 15K will be held January 28 at Clement Taylor Park, located at 131 Calhoun Avenue. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, which restores and protects the Choctawhatchee Basin Watershed.

The 10K course is USA Track & Field-certified, and the 15K course is new to the event this year. All races start and finish in Clement Taylor Park. Race times are 7:30 a.m. for the 10K and 15K (2.5-hour time limit) and 8 a.m. for the 5K. The awards ceremony will begin after the last racer returns, or no later than 10 a.m. Awards will be presented to the male and female winners in multiple age categories.The 5K costs $30 in advance or $35 on race day (6-7:30 a.m.); the 10K and 15K cost $40 in advance or $50 on race day (6-7 a.m.). Online registration is available until midnight January 25. T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 500 registrants.

There will be a packet pickup party at Fudpucker’s Beachside Bar & Grill in Destin January 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. Packets can also be picked up at the Destin Chamber of Commerce, 4484 Legendary Drive, Suite A, on January 26, from 1 to 5 p.m. and January 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
