ReBOOT Funds Alternative Options for Soldiers

The wounds of war are not always visible, and overcoming challenges like traumatic brain injury, depression or PTSD is the one battle our soldiers aren’t always equipped to win. But one Texas-based nonprofit, the Boot Campaign, is dedicated to helping former and active-duty military heal from their wounds—mental and physical—so that they and their families can enjoy full, productive lives after they return from duty.

Veterans who enroll in the campaign’s ReBOOT program receive a comprehensive health assessment; individualized treatment using a wide array of protocols, including complementary and alternative therapies; fitness and nutrition training; physical and cognitive diagnostic testing throughout the treatment and rehabilitation process; and at least a year of follow-up to catch any residual issues. All testing and treatment is performed at one of the many state-of-the-art treatment facilities—including three in Dallas and EXOS in Gulf Breeze—that have partnered with the Boot Campaign expressly for this purpose.

ReBOOT is funded through the sale of combat boots for civilian wear, as well as other retail merchandise, through BootCampaign.org. More than 80 cents on every dollar the campaign receives is returned to veterans through programs like ReBOOT, says Christina DeLaTorre, the Boot Campaign’s director of business development and events.

“Funding ReBOOT allows us to remove the financial barriers that our veterans may face and can cover expenses such as travel, lodging and meals while they’re receiving treatment,” she says.

Veterans or their family members who want to learn about enrolling in the ReBOOT program should email Info@Boot Campaign.org.
