This month, in the spirit of spring cleaning, Pereira Produce & Health is launching an essential oils education series to help people renew their bodies along with their surroundings. Topics will include detoxification, cooking with essential oils, DIY body-care products, natural cleaners and gardening without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

The series kicks off April 7 at 7 p.m. with a detoxification event at Navarre Living Yoga. Participants will receive an essential oil body wrap to assist with gentle detoxification, and learn about everyday and quarterly cleansing. "The most recent group to go through this event—there were 11 participants—lost a combined 41 inches," says Diana Pereira. Bring plenty of water in order to stay hydrated. The $15 fee includes the wrap.

A complimentary seminar, to be held April 9 at 2 p.m. at Ever’man Co-operative, will explore how standard cleaning products impact our health, and safer, less expensive replacements that are also quick and easy. The class will be offered again April 21 at 6:30 p.m. at 3744 Victorian Boulevard in Gulf Breeze.

Bugs are the subject of the April 16 seminar, which will be held at 2 p.m. at 9016 Larker Woods Road in Navarre. "I’ll explain how essential oils can help protect your harvest from our Florida pests," Pereira says. "I’ll also demonstrate how to make natural pesticides, sunscreens, bug repellent and other spring necessities utilizing essential oils."

The series concludes with a culinary workshop May 6 at 5:30 p.m. at 2109 Casa de Oro Street in Navarre. "We’ll whip up fresh spring dishes using essential oils to create not only profound flavor but also reap the health benefits of each oil," Pereira says. "The benefits of using essential oils in raw ‘cooking’ is profound." The dinner will end with lavender lemonade and fruit salad with coconut tangerine whipped cream. The $5 fee covers the cost of the food.
