Natural Awakenings Northwest Florida

Earth Day Pensacola April 22, Bayview Park

Earth Day Pensacola, celebrating this year’s theme of Energy, Transportation and Sustainability, will be held April 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bayview Park. The residents of Northwest Florida get together at this annual event to celebrate the Earth in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. There will be live music, dancing, yoga, a sustainable art show, food vendors, an expanded children’s area and a variety of informational booths showing how members of the Pensacola community can live more sustainably.

There will be vendors supporting the theme with information about ride sharing, public transportation, hybrid vehicles, wind energy, solar energy and more. There will also be vendors focused on gardening, plants and water education.

Earth Day Pensacola is part of a larger effort organized by the Earth Day Network, which has developed ways for individuals, families and groups to become engaged and involved at both the national and international levels to help protect and save the Earth. The network has created A Billion Acts of Green, an international movement to protect the planet and secure a sustainable future. To see the actions any of us can take now to make a difference, read more about A Billion Acts of Green at EarthDay.org/TakeAction/Campaigns.

The environment faces a multitude of challenges today. From climate change to species extinction, our planet and its inhabitants are continually facing manmade threats that require action if they are to be prevented. For more than 40 years, Earth Day has had the mission of inspiring and mobilizing individuals and organizations worldwide to demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
