Bigger Than Ever: Emerald Coast Holistic Health Expo

Feb 01, 2018 08:50PM

Last year more than 3,000 people flocked to the Emerald Coast Holistic Health Expo to explore the wide world of natural health and green living. When the expo returns to the Emerald Coast Convention Center on March 10 and 11, it will be bigger and better than ever, says Daralyn Chase, publisher of the expo’s sponsor, Natural Awakenings magazine of Northwest Florida.

More Exhibits, More Space

As it was last year, the expo will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, showcasing the latest in fitness, yoga, meditation, nutrition, functional medicine, holistic healing and green living. But instead of last year’s 70 exhibitors, there will be more than 90 this time, with an additional ballroom to accommodate them. The Fair-Trade Farmers Market will be bigger this year too.

“We’re excited to add a demonstration stage, which will feature a Fair-Trade Natural Fiber Fashion Show sponsored by BellaLine, an online conscious boutique based in Pensacola,” Chase says.

An open casting call for the fashion show will be held on February 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. Anyone age 18 or over who is interested in applying should visit ECHHExpo.com and fill out the sign-up form, which includes name, phone number, email, age and height. A current photo is also required; it doesn’t have to be professional, but no selfies, please. Those who qualify and are accepted will be notified via email.

“If you love fashion and want to be a part of this exciting opportunity, this is your moment—own it!” Chase says.

Loads of Freebies

Again this year, visitors can register to win various door prizes, including gift certificates from local practitioners, natural product and essential oils gift baskets, and spa packages.

All exhibits are free, and several sponsored presentations and panel discussions are scheduled.

Presentations will include an introduction to the empowering practice known as ThetaHealing, with expo sponsor Felicia McQuaid and guest speaker Antti Heikkilä, an artist and ThetaHealing practitioner and teacher from Helsinki, Finland (read about him at HealerAnttiHeikkila.com); Aymen Kenawy, M.D., discussing Rheumatology and the Advancements in Treatment and Regenerative Medicine (stem cells); and the Tri-County Beekeepers Association on basic beekeeping.

There will be two panel discussions with local experts: Marijuana, Endocannabinoids and You: The Dawning of a New Era, and Aging Holistically.

Paid Workshops

Visitors can buy tickets for all-day entry to the interactive workshop room, which will feature eight unique stations where they can discover, create and take away healthier, cleaner products for cooking, eating, cleansing and detoxing, green cleaning, body care, natural pet care, emotional balance and daily remedies. Tickets cost $25 in advance or $35 at the door.

Several natural and spiritual healers will be on site throughout the event, offering private healing sessions at a reduced rate.

“Many expo visitors take advantage of this special pricing to experience holistic health in ways that they’ve never tried before,” Chase says. “Because it’s a popular feature, we ask that people book their sessions in advance on our website.”
