Keep Pensacola Beautiful Hosts April Bag Swaps (POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19)

Throughout the month of April, Keep Pensacola Beautiful will be holding bag swaps at various locations across Escambia County as part of the organization’s Great American Cleanup Program. The goal of this recycling initiative is to promote the mitigation of single-use plastic via reusable alternatives.

To encourage participation, the organization will have a presence at popular community events and gathering spots. People who bring in at least 20 plastic bags can trade them in for a Keep Pensacola Beautiful reusable tote bag. They will also be asked to sign a pledge that they will work to reduce their use of single-use plastics.

"This recycling initiative is used to illustrate the amount of plastic we consume on a daily basis and bring awareness to less-wasteful alternatives," says Sigrid Solgard, executive director of Keep Pensacola Beautiful.

Bag swaps will take place April 11, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Palafox Farmer’s Market; April 17, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Legal Graffiti, 11 East Romana Street, Pensacola; April 18, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Perfect Plain Brewing Co., 50 East Garden Street, Pensacola; and April 24, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., at Ever’man Cooperative, 1000 East 9 Mile Road, Pensacola.
