Elite Services Quality Clean, which offers onsite carpet and upholstery cleaning from Mobile to Destin, is now the Panhandle’s sole provider of Fiber Protector, a Norwegian product that makes fabrics resistant to stains, as well as bacteria and viruses. Rhonda Ford, marketing educator for Elite Services, says what makes Fiber Protector special is that it provides both benefits without the use of harmful chemicals and without altering the fabric’s feel or appearance.

Fiber Protector can be used on any fabric, from silk to jute and sisal, and it’s WoolSafe Approved, Ford says. Unlike other fabric protectors, it’s also 100 percent green, with no toxic chemicals such as PFOAs, which are found in Teflon.

“When you spray it on your furniture or your rugs or drapes, it doesn’t change the color or texture—it just protects the fabric so that anything spilled on it will bead up and can be blotted away with a damp cloth,” she says. “At the same time, it creates an environment that’s inhospitable for viruses and bacteria to grow.” Those effects last about three years, she says.
