“If at 85 years young, you call me to see if it’s a good idea to go skydiving, then I’ve been the kind of doctor we both needed me to be,” exclaims Dr. Pamela Svendsen, founder and medical director of The Wellness Center at Navarre. She offers her patients an individualized program using both traditional and non-traditional medicine.

She is also a diplomate of the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. Instead of disease-focused treatment, Svendsen offers patient-centered care and anti-aging medicine that is clinically and medically aimed at early detection, prevention, treatment and reversal of age-related decline. “Real prevention is not just disease prevention, but also wellness promotion,” she explains.

“Being at a healthy weight is a cornerstone of wellness,” comments Svendsen. She promotes traditional methods of weight loss with nutritional counseling and the promotion of appropriate exercise. She also understands the need for medically supervised weight-loss programs. She explains, “There are many factors for success and failure when using appetite suppressants; it is very important to be medically supervised.”

Svendsen also has a keen interest in bio-identical hormones. “I see a great deal of women for a variety of problems that can be improved and eliminated with the balance of hormones,” states Svendsen. She believes in following every patient closely, evaluating symptoms and using laboratory tests to determine each patient’s customized dose. Svendsen prescribes only bio-identical hormones that are identical to the body’s own chemistry. Her goal is to provide a treatment that helps women suffering from the symptoms of menopause to live the best life possible, while at the same time minimizing the side effects often associated with synthetic hormone therapy.

Svendsen also understands the dynamic between feeling good and looking good and likes to support the emotional side of wellness. The center offers aesthetic medicine services and houses the Skin Solutions Medical Spa, upstairs from her office. The spa has a serene décor and offers a variety of products and services, including the opportunity to work with a paramedical aesthetician.

The Wellness Center in Navarre is located at 7552 Navarre Pkwy,, Ste. 21 (Harvest Village). Contact Dr. Svendsen at 850-936-8343 or visit NavarreWellness.com.
