Reading Labels Helps Parents and Kids
After participating in the L.E.A.N. Start Program, developed by Dr. William Sears and Sean Foy, MA, a leading exercise physiologist and nutrition expert, the number of parents that usually or always read nutritional labels before buying food increased 52 percent.
For the first time, the L.E.A.N. Start - Healthy Kids, Happy Families is now being offered in an online eWorkshop beginning on January 13. Training online will be through eLearning segments, hands-on learning activities, family challenge activities, free downloads and personalized coaching.
While most nutrition education programs target children, the L.E.A.N. Start Program fills a void as one of the first to be uniquely designed for parents and caregivers. The program provides them with the tools to teach their children about nutrition and exercise, along with simple strategies to implement, especially effective as a method for prevention and intervention in families where nutrition related behaviors or childhood obesity are a concern.
