Each year, Natural Awakenings magazine focuses on spirituality and awareness in December, so as usual, we are looking forward to the accumulation of interesting developments and concepts surrounding the growth of our spirituality as individuals taking another step towards self-improvement. It seems that many of my closest friends and colleagues are sharing books, workshops and lectures from which they are discovering fascinating and helpful new pathways toward enlightenment.

This month’s feature article, “Sacred Activism, Love in Action Can Change the World,” by Judith Fetig reveals the more daunting task of combining our own spiritual growth and passions with activism. Actually, taking action toward what we believe in and wish to see in our world seems monumental. We have always enjoyed conversations among friends in which we solve the world’s problems, but actually doing so is just plain scary. Our story “Sacred Activism” validates these concerns and offers three fabulous prospective that could truly change the world.

After absorbing this concept, we felt in was never a better time then now to join Walton County and their efforts towards implementing the recently activated PACE program. Learn more in our Community Spotlight, “PACE Pays to Go Green.” We urge you, as part of our healthy living community and for the betterment of our Northwest Florida area…and our planet, to join us in spreading this good news that will stimulate our economy, offer concrete savings in dollars and environmental and get our local area doing its part towards a better future.

I was recently visiting family in Hawaii and was thrilled and amazed to see the number of homes converted to solar power. I know the people along our Emerald Coast are just as passionate about our environment as the Hawaiians, and I believe we to can make it happen, on a spiritual and activism level.
