The Golden Almond Health Store in Fort Walton Beach is starting the new decade off with a dramatically new look. After a remodel that increased its space by a third, the store ushered in 2020 with a floor-to-ceiling makeover and an expanded selection of health products.

Starting in a small retail space in the early 1980s, long before organic foods and natural supplements were as popular as they are today, the Golden Almond was this area’s first true “health store,” says owner Brian Mobley.

“Back then it was a small storefront on Mar Walt Drive,” he says. “It specialized mostly in supplements for specific conditions, general nutrients for well-being, and cleaner foods than those found in regular grocery stores.” 

As interest grew in organic foods and a more natural approach to health, the Golden Almond moved to its current location in nearby Winrock Plaza on Racetrack Road, where there was space to expand its food, supplement, skincare and essential oil selections and add a to-go café with a 100% organic menu.

 New Shopping Experience, Same Expert Service

Today, with interest in natural health at an all-time high, the next stage of the Golden Almond’s evolution has arrived, Mobley says.

“We’ve further expanded the store’s square footage and a completely reimagined the shopping experience,” he says. “All the aisles have been opened up for more spacious browsing, and the multiple light, plant and water features around the store make you feel more like you’re in nature than in a store.”

  The latest remodel created even more room for the Golden Almond’s ever-increasing selection of supplements, grocery items, household goods and topical products, as well as a broad selection of CBD products, which have experienced a meteoric rise as a truly unique category in the health field.

 “Our store now features a wide range of these cannabis extracts at the center of the store, in a new, larger case,” Mobley says. “It stands seven feet tall and is internally illuminated, so it’s easy to see the full selection of hemp products as our staff explains them.”

With all the new additions and updates at the Golden Almond, many things remain the same—especially the store’s focus on locally sourced products, customer health education and staff training.
