Natural Awakenings Northwest Florida

All Invited to Fort Walton Beach Street Fiesta

Viva Ciclovia Street Fiesta, a family-friendly outdoor block party celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, will take place October 10, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., in downtown Fort Walton Beach, on Ferry Road and First Street. People of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend this community event, which will feature live and DJ music, folkloric groups, and the varied flavors and aromas of Latin cuisine.

Morning activities will include introductory FSL CrossFit and Fit by Courtney Yoga, and then will transition into the Latin fiesta with a salsa class by Inspire Movement. There will also be contests, piñatas for the kids, and non-Hispanic entertainment. Organizers are encouraging people to bike, walk, skateboard, rollerblade or run to the festival, rather than driving, “to promote healthy living and experience our downtown in a whole new light.”

Net proceeds will Benefit One Hopeful Place, whose mission is to be the front door to permanent housing and to end the cycle of homelessness and housing loss in Okaloosa County.

Corporate sponsorships and vendors’ tables are available for businesses, service agencies and other entities that want to reach the festival’s wide and varied audience, which includes the region’s growing Hispanic community as well as non-Hispanics and military members and families. For sponsorship details, email Mercedes Feris at [email protected].

Among the current sponsors are the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, Gulf Power City of Fort Walton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, Natural Awakenings, Tier One Media, FSL CrossFit, Fit by Courtney, Inspire Movement, Simply Healthcare, Ecoview Construction, Gulf Coast Immediate Care Center, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, and Arts & Design Society.
