Healing Motion Upcoming In-person and Online Events

Kirsten Wilkinson, founder of Healing Motion offering yoga, qi gong, mind/body practices, Ayurvedic health counseling, breathwork, guided meditation and more, is excited to announce several upcoming in-person and online events.

The first event, Understanding Trauma for Safer Facilitation: Foundations of Trauma Informed Yoga and Embodied Practices Training, takes place the weekend of January 20 to 22 at Lovelock Healing Arts in Pensacola, FL. Class times will be Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost for this weekend event is $250. To register, visit momence.com/s/42674187.

“This training is really about understanding all of the layers of trauma—physical, emotional, cognitive—how they are connected, and how we can intervene if and when trauma shows up in our spaces. Trauma is part of the human condition; however, the more we know how to support survivors, the braver our spaces can be for restoration,” affirms Wilkinson.

In addition, Wilkinson will offer an online Small Group Somatic Coaching series beginning January 25 for four consecutive Wednesdays. The class, which features embodied movement practices designed for nervous system support to reduce stress and anxiety, is a great opportunity to try out somatic therapy tools at a fraction of the cost for a private session.  There are two times available online, either from 11 a.m. to noon or 5 to 6 p.m. CST.

According to Wilkinson, Somatic/Movement Based Therapy is a modality that approaches someone’s mental, physical and emotional health through the mind/body connection. “Through body-based practices, somatic therapy bridges the gap between talk therapy and body-based integrative restoration for more comprehensive preventative medicine,” she explains. The class fee is $125 for all four sessions.

Wilkinson also offers private sessions in Somatic Experiencing, a method of alternative therapy that offers mental health support through body-based modalities that assist in reminding the client’s nervous system of calm.  “I love SE work,” Wilkinson says. “It can be a great addition to talk therapy or can stand on it’s own as a support for those living with PTSD, C-PTSD, specific incidence of trauma, chronic stress, and anxiety.  It personalizes the process of finding tools and methods that supports the individual experience with trauma and creates opportunities for trauma residue discharge and space in the nervous system to find supportive pathways for a more manageable and enjoyable life.”

Other upcoming events include Exploring Yoga Nidra, Qi Gong for Winter, Supporting Digestion and Metabolism through Ayurveda, Ayurveda Daily Routine for Longevity and Better Health, and a Couple’s Thai Yoga Massage Workshop. These classes and workshops will be held at Lovelock Healing Arts in Pensacola, FL. For dates and times, visit the events calendar.
