When Ed Weihenmayer was planning a new 13,000-square-foot facility to house his fitness center, World Gym Pensacola, he wasn’t just focused on aesthetics. He wanted the state-of-the-art facility to offer the most innovative fitness and wellness technology in the industry. That’s how World Gym became the only licensed fitness location in Northwest Florida to feature Salt Athletics, a patent-pending program that delivers multiple advanced wellness protocols in a single half-hour session.
Having owned commercial fitness centers for 30 years, Weihenmayer says that in the course of his research, he discovered many interesting options in the fitness market—but nothing as “remarkable and comprehensive” as Salt Athletics, which combines exercise, red light therapy and halotherapy (salt therapy) along with ion-ized water, oxygen-rich environments and live-enzyme juice extraction.
“No wellness program in the world can benefit the human body as much as Salt Athletics delivers in a 30-minute session,” Weihenmayer says. “The core building blocks of every Salt Athletics session are the combination of dry salt inhalation and near- and far-red light therapy. This interaction stimulates the mitochondria in our cells to use oxygen more efficiently, allowing the mitochondria to produce more ATP. When our cells have more energy, they perform better and the body follows suit.”
Health benefits include improved respiratory function and VO2max (hard breath-ing); quicker recovery of muscles and ligaments; improved cell production, liver function and metabolism; regeneration of the blood; easing of depression symp-toms; faster skin repair; and improved kidney, heart, lung function, he says.
“An added benefit is a natural face lift,” he says. “Regular exposure to Salt Athletics red light therapy builds collagen that dramatically reduces fine lines and wrinkles in the face. It’s not uncommon for people to look four to eight years younger after just a couple of months of sessions. Weight loss is an additional benefit. You burn up to twice as many calories exercising in a Salt Athletics environment.”
Four Salt Athletics Rooms
World Gym has four different Salt Athletics rooms where users can either exercise or recover while receiving a unique combination of near infrared and far infrared light therapy, salt inhalation therapy, negative ion therapy and concentrated oxy-gen.
The Athletic Advantage Room features recumbent and upright cardio bikes and immersive video.
The Red Room On-Demand features Fitness On Demand, with more than 1,000 interactive functional workout videos and functional fitness equip-ment, including TRX straps.
The Recovery Red Room features a state-of-the-art hydro-massage lounge and immersive video.
The Extreme Performance Room features HIIT Rogue Echo bikes and im-mersive video.
“Each Salt Athletics session begins with a glass of ionized water, and at the comple-tion of each session each member receives a glass of carrot, apple and celery juice made fresh in a centrifugal juicer to deliver active enzymes,” Weihenmayer says.
Part of National Rollout
A division of HaloTherapy Center, Salt Athletics has three U.S. patents pending. In-corporating Salt Athletics into World Gym Pensacola’s new facility is part of the brand’s national rollout, says John Brier, managing partner of Salt Athletics. Addi-tional locations are launching soon in Tampa, Atlanta, Germany and Alaska.
“We’re pleased to have a significant presence in the new World Gym Pensacola lo-cation,” Brier says. “We look forward to delivering the powerful scientific wellness principals that Salt Athletics embodies to the Pensacola market.”
