Yoga Nidra and Intention Workshop in Pace

Mar 28, 2020 04:47AM ● By Daralyn Chase

On April 4, from 2 to 4 p.m., local podcaster Meredith for Real and Colorado-based yoga instructor Brooke Page-Thompson will co-host a Yoga Nidra and Intention Workshop, bringing to life a podcast episode they recorded together.

“Meredith for Real: the curious introvert” launched in November. Meredith interviews someone every Monday, with a mission to inspire curiosity in others. (For episode updates, text REAL to 66866.)

“I believe if more people operated with curiosity instead of presumption, the world would be a better place,” she says.

Brooke Page-Thompson is a mid-life crisis survivor who, after 15 years working in corporate America, launched a new career as a yoga studio owner in Castle Rock, Colorado. She is now a 200-hour registered teacher, offering yoga nidra level 2, restorative yoga and Ayurveda level 1, and leading yoga retreats.

The workshop will end with a session of yoga nidra (yogic sleep), a practice used for stress relief and recovery from negative energy and tension. It is led through a guided meditation, with the desired result of increased dopamine release and balance of the autonomic nervous system. The health benefits are equivalent to that of four hours of REM sleep, Page-Thompson says.

“The combination of focusing what you want to be, do and have with a guided meditation to release the negative is the perfect reboot to deflated New Year’s resolutions,” Meredith says.

Participants should bring a throw blanket and cut out pictures for vision boards. Cost: $25 through March 20; $30 after. Location: Delta Life Fitness, 4612 School Ln., Pace, FL. For more info, visit BukaYoga.com/workshops-1
