SunFarm Energy to Install Solar Power at Aquatic Center Destin

Mar 28, 2020 05:03AM ● By Daralyn Chase

SunFarm Energy (SFE) has been selected to install a solar power system at the Aquatic Center Destin, as part of a grant-funded renovation of the nonprofit outdoor swimming facility. SFE installs solar Photovoltaic (PV) power systems, Tesla PowerWall 2 battery systems and EV Chargers, and solar hot water and pool heating systems, in the Florida Panhandle and lower Alabama.

The Aquatic Center Destin serves all ages, offering low-impact exercise, recreational swimming and swimming lessons (beginner to expert). It also serves as a destination for after-school activities, family swim time, local and regional swim competitions and vacationers on Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Since taking over the closed aquatic facility and property in August 2017, the Emerald Coast Fitness Foundation Inc. board has had the goal of reducing ongoing operating costs through comprehensive equipment and energy consumption upgrades. Having already completed a geo-thermal pool heating upgrade, the board is now adding solar PV and improved LED lighting.

The full cost of the PV upgrade will be funded by a solar grant from All Points North Foundation, which focuses on middle-school education and expanding solar power to help “communities nationwide to navigate upward.” The PV installation is expected to be complete by the late first quarter of 2020 and provide 30 years of clean, reliable, renewable energy to the Aquatic Center of Destin facility.

Location: 4345 Commons Dr. W., Destin, FL. For more information, call 850-472-0341 or visit SunFarmEnergy.net.
